How to Unlock the National Pokédex in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl provides an additional challenge for those who have completed their Sinnoh Pokédex and are looking for a new challenge, i.e., unlock the National Pokédex.

Sinnoh’s Pokédex is much more forgiving and achievable in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl than Galar’s in Sword and Shield.

The Sinnoh Pokédex contains only 150 Pokémon, just like in the original game. Furthermore, you don’t have to “catch ’em all”; all you have to do is see them all, whether in trainer battles or out in the wild.

The National Pokédex is included in the post-game of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. To obtain it, you must first defeat the Elite Four and claim the title of Champion. You must also possess the entire Sinnoh Pokédex.

With these two accomplishments under your belt, return to Professor Rowan’s Lab in Sandgem Town, where it all began.

Make an appointment with Professor Rowan. When Roman finds out you’ve completed your Pokédex, he’ll summon his pal Professor Oak. Your Sinnoh Pokédex will then be upgraded to a National Pokédex by Professor Oak.

In the wilds of Sinnoh, the National Pokédex will introduce 300 new Pokémon from Generations I, II, and III. It will also open Ramanas Park, where legendary Pokémon from previous generations can be caught.
