How to Walk with Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players must do the following to let a Pokémon out of its Pokeball and walk with them:

  1. Play until you reach Hearthome City.
  2. Go to the city’s northwest or northeast gates.
  3. Enter to get to the Amity Square Gate
  4. Approach the NPC behind the desk to start the conversation
  5. Enter the park and relax.
  6. Leave the park and speak with the NPC to use the Walk Together feature

Players can let their Pokémon out of their Pokeballs after unlocking Walk Together by:

  • Press X in order to open the menu
  • Open the Pokémon menu
  • Choose any Pokémon
  • Choose “Walk together”

Following the completion of the steps outlined above, the selected Pokémon will appear in the game and walk alongside their trainer. Please keep in mind that the Walk Together feature does not work inside buildings or in the Grand Underground.

Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to this feature in both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which are listed below. The most noticeable one (apart from bugs) is that the Pokémon aren’t scaled correctly.

Players will quickly realize that Onix does not appear to be significantly larger on the screen than Ekans. When the larger Pokémon are reduced to the size of the chibi trainers that the players control, they lose a lot of their majesty.

When Pokémon are accompanying players on their walks, there isn’t much for them to do as well. It appears that they have reacted in the same way as they did when the feature was first introduced in Pokémon Yellow.

However, it is possible to examine them in order to obtain a brief description of what they are doing, but that is all there is to it.

Well, that’s all we have here about how you can walk with Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
