V Rising: How to Salvage and Get the Devourer

It can be infuriating to discover that an item in V Rising is salvageable but have no idea how to go about doing so. Not being able to salvage old armor or other items because of a shortage of raw materials only adds insult to injury.

V Rising’s item salvaging may take some time, depending on where you are in the game’s progression. This is a good thing because it’s not too far into the game, but it’s still far enough that new players may not be able to put their best foot forward for a while.

How to Salvage in V Rising?

The Salvage mechanism in V Rising is a hot topic right now. Using this guide, you can learn how to turn trash into treasure and acquire the Devourer, the item that enables this. However, before you begin your journey, we recommend that you arm yourself with one of the game’s best weapons.

Using the Devourer, a box with teeth that eats your unwanted items and generously spits out raw materials in return, salvaging makes its living by repurposing waste. It takes some time to obtain the Devourer, however.

Lidia, the Chaos Archer, unlocks at level 26 and must be defeated before you can proceed. Taking a walk through the woods and clearing out some bandit camps can help you get to that point. If you’re lucky, you might even get some Whetstones as a reward for your trouble.

Where to Find Lidia the Chaos Archer

When we were playing, Lidia was found in Farbane Woods, in the middle of the map labeled “DS.” Even though the area is small, Lidia telegraphs her attacks in such a way that you can get away before they hit.

Lidia alternates between shooting three arrows that explode in a small effect area and shooting shots that explode in a much larger effect area on impact. As long as you stay out of the way of the large circle that the game uses to indicate where these will land, you should be fine.

It’s a good opportunity to slip up and land a few of your own hits when she attacks in the same direction.

After a few attacks, Lidia usually disappears and reappears in melee range, ready to use her next attack. If you keep moving, you should be able to avoid her attack until she reappears.

How to Get the Devourer in V Rising

Defeating Lidia and absorbing her V Blood opens the door to crafting the Devourer. You need to following items in order to craft a Devourer:

  • 12 Planks
  • 6 Copper Ingots

Using the Devourer to Salvage Items

The Devourer can be found in the “Production” menu under the “Refinement” tab. Use it by interacting with the chest after you’ve placed it where you want it. You can then see what the Devourer’s internal workings have in store for you in the “output” section by dragging whatever you want to recycle into the “input” section on the right.

Due to limited inventory space, salvaging with the Devourer can be a tedious process. Lidia can be killed well below her own level, and level 20 characters should be able to do so with the same amount of effort as slaying a level 20 V Carrier.

Well, that’s all we have here about how you can Salvage in V Rising. We hope this guide helped you. If you liked this, make sure to check out how you can stop your castle from decaying and get Blood essence.
