How to Distract Wild Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Arceus

Sometimes distracting a wild Pokémon in Legends: Arceus is one of the best ways to keep going. You can either sneak up on them and catch them, or you can start a traditional battle by eliminating one of your party members.

As said earlier, taking them on without fighting is sometimes a better option. They’ll probably notice you and attack or flee if you’re not careful. You’ll need to find a way to divert their attention in this case. So, in Legends: Arceus, we’ll show you how to distract wild Pokemon.

How to Distract Wild Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

If you get too close to wild Pokémon in their line of sight or run up to them making a lot of noise, they will notice you.

You’ll need to find a way to divert their attention in this case. You can go in for a stealth capture with the Poke Ball of your choice using one of two reliable methods:

Use food items to Distract Wild Pokemons

You can throw all of the different types of berries you find in the wild near unaware Pokémon to distract them. Because it’s one of the more common berries found in trees, the cheapest method is to use an Oran Berry.

Toss a few in a general direction so your target Pokémon isn’t facing you. Go in and chuck a Poke Ball while their backs are facing you while they’re busy eating the berries.

Using Great Balls, Ultra Balls, or the other Pokeball variants available to you will increase your chances of catching them.

In this case, the cakes would be a more potent food item. These food items are recommended for Alphas and other rarer Pokémon because they will keep them occupied for longer periods of time.

Because wild Pokémon eat other food items quickly, you’ll need more time to crouch walk to avoid waking them up.

Go Stealth

You can always take the stealthy route that Hikari taught you back in the Obsidian Fieldlands if you’re being a bit frugal with the items you have. Make extensive use of your surroundings, such as hiding in tall grass and behind rocks and trees.

Using a Stealth Spray can help you become more stealthy. This item is very useful because it muffles your footsteps. As a result, wild Pokémon will not be immediately alerted unless you approach them from the front.

There are other ways to distract a Pokémon if you don’t want to take the cautious and stealthy approach.

Stunning “Unaware” Pokemon

By throwing one of your Pokémon at the back of a wild Pokemon, you can almost always get the first attack in a Pokémon battle.

Let’s say you’ve just caught the attention of a Hisuian Growlithe, who then tackles you. If you dodge their attack, there’s a small window where they’re vulnerable. To start a battle, toss a Pokémon at their back.

You should hear the same sound as when you throw an empty Pokeball at a Pokémon from behind if you’ve done everything correctly.

The battle will then begin with you being told that “you caught (Pokemon’s name) unawares!” In this case, you may receive two attack opportunities in a row, with a high likelihood of their turn being skipped due to being startled.

Use Sticky Globs

If you can’t seem to do any of the above, try throwing Sticky Globs at Pokemon. They’ll be stunned if you throw enough of these at unsuspecting or alert Pokemon. In that case, come up behind them and use the stunning technique to get a few free hits.
